OK - so in Nyon, Switzerland...

After a not too late night it was back to my room at the hotel. Single bed...room size of closet...stuffy as hell. Tried opening the french doors but then like being in Antarctica! A fitful sleep and then on to Day One of the Global Sponsorship Conference being held at the UEFA headquarters on the shores of Lake Geneva. The most modern building with the most amazing views. UEFA run all the big soccer (I'll get hung for not calling it football!) leagues in Europe - Champions League etc. My company is one of the new sponsors.

Conference was great and then it was off to dinner in a small restaurant in Nyon. Once again, great food and a very rowdy night! The wine flowed and the conversation got louder and louder!

A was very good and went home about 11 - the last person rolled in about 4am apparently. One was so ill he didn't turn up to Day Two of the conference until abou 10.30!

Another fitful nights sleep. Another great day at conference and then rounded up into a bus to the airport. All in all a great three days travelling.

Well, since then we've been a bit quiet. Bridge is now working - after visits to a number of temp agencies she ended up getting a great job with the UK office of Vodafone. She's got a great boss and some fun colleagues.

As far as trips are concerned, we've ventured out a couple of times over the last couple of weeks. Once to a place called Welford Park. It's a manor house just north of Newbury and at a certain time just before spring, the snow drops come out. They have a woodland that is just completely carpeted in little white flowers and they really live up to their name...snow drops....looks like it has been snowing for days. The day we went was bitterly cold and the stiff breeze made it feel like it was well below 0 degrees - the flowers were beautiful though.

Our other trip was to Winchester - about half an hour south of Newbury on the road to Southampton. We went with a friend of mine from work, Amr, who has just moved over from Egypt.

Winchester was orginally the captial of England until a big fire around 1100 resulting in the 'captial' being changed to London. The Winchester Cathedral is truly stunning and was the burial place for most of the Kings of England before William the Conqueror (eg. King Canute etc) plus Jane Austen of course...

The Cathedral is huge and has the most amazing nooks and crannies. While we were looking around it looked like people were setting up for a concert. We were down the end of the cathedral and all of a sudden this orchestra started playing which was beautfiul but then a 100 person choir joined in and it sent shivers up our spines. This beautful music resounding around one of the most stunning locations - it was truly something special to have our Cathedral visit with this soundtrack. It was one of those moments in one's life you will always remember.

Also, Bridge's favourite book is called Catherine (by Anya Seton) and was the story of John of Gaunt and his life long love Catherine. One of the characters in this book was John of Gaunt's brother - who was buried in a tomb in this Cathedral - amazing!

So all in all, a fantastic day out. The last couple of weekends have been a bit damp so we haven't ventured out much. We went out for dinner for the first time with another guy from work and his partner and had a very nice meal at The Crab in Chievely. It was voted the best seafood restaurant in England - and nice it was too!

Spring has well and truly sprung and the drive to work is beautiful as the verges of the country lanes are lined with Daffodils. The garden is starting flower up and we have leaves on bushes and petunias appearing in the lawn.

We're off on a road trip at Easter - Lake District and Chester and so will fill you in when we get back. Take care all and email when you can...oh, our Skype address is geoffandbridge - skype us soon!

Wishing you and yours a fantastic Easter!

See ya
